Speedy Post

First, I must apologise for being remiss.  I have been travelling a lot the last two weeks, and posting hasn’t been possible.  Plus, there is a bit of a corporate crisis happening at the minute, so I’m pretty distracted on that.

I do have a few updates for you:

First, Dumb Boss came through and lifted my rating to a 2B.  Go, Dumb Boss. 

Second, I think I’m going to have to do a restructure of the team in order to get my team’s remuneration reviews through.  I don’t like to do this, but there are 2 obvious opportunities to shave fat off in the team, and I might just need to do it.  I hate that, but I guess it’s life.

Third, Dumb Boss got mad at me when I didn’t tell him early enough about a legal opinion on the prospects of some litigation I got for our accounts.  I think he over-reacted, but he got embarassed in front of the Board, and I felt guilt wash over me.  To his credit, he gave me the bonus increase anyway.

Fourth, I spoke to one of our Directors about Dumb Boss and his resistance to buying decent D&O Insurance (among other things).  It went strangely.  I’ll tell you more soon.

Fifth, this little corporate crisis going on at the minute raises some D&O Insurance issues.  I am not sure, but when I remarked to Dumb Boss “I am not going to say the words ‘D&O Insurance’”, do you think I was being a hopeless cow?

Finally, I am exhausted.  I can’t believe I thought I wouldn’t be challenged enough in this job.
